QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

WHAT "KIND" OF YOGA DO YOU TEACH?

I teach a slower style of vinyasa yoga. Even though many people who come to the class already have some experience with the physical practice of yoga asanas (poses), going slow means that the classes are suitable for people with different amount of experience, so that everyone can get what they need from the class. I also find that a slower practice enables a deeper exploration and awareness.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL CLASS LOOK LIKE?

The classes take between 60 (the morning class) to 75 (the evening class) minutes. The This normally includes settling in, an opening meditation/relaxation, breath work, followed by a warm-up, the main sequence, and a cool down, most often ending with relaxation in Savasana.

WHAT IF I AM NOT FLEXIBLE, TOO OLD, NOT AN ATHLETIC TYPE,... [ADD YOUR CONCERN]?

I believe that yoga is suitable for most bodies, if not for every body. One of my favourite, and perhaps slightly over-used quotes is that of Bernie Clark: "We don't use the body to get into a pose, we use the pose to get into the body".

Yoga is about building mental, physical, emotional, relational and other strengths and resilience, and the physical practice of yoga represents only one of the ways to cultivate it. This means you can do plenty of yoga without getting into yoga poses, but practicing them will likely help you on many different levels.

Therefore, it doesn't matter what shape, size, age, gender, etc...you are, if you use the practice of yoga (poses) to the benefit of you and others.

The only thing you may wish to disclose to me is if you have any injuries or particular sensitivities or concerns, and I'll do my best to offer alternatives to make yoga a good experience for you. You can always email me or come talk to me ahead of the class start.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO A CLASS?

The Yoga Station, where I currently teach, has mats, bolsters, straps, blocks, blankets, and meditation cushions available, so you don't need to bring anything at all. You don't need any special clothes either. Just come in whatever (generally appropriate) clothes that make you feel comfortable, and enjoy yourself.  If you do have your favourite piece of equipment, feel free to bring it along with you.

CAN I BOOK A PRIVATE CLASS?

Please contact me if you would like to discuss private yoga sessions.

WHAT ARE THE HOUSE RULES?

Below are some rules that are important to me and the people who run the Yoga Station, which help us run a smooth and enjoyable schedule.

1. Please come BEFORE the class starts. The studio is located at the metro station, and to prevent class disruption, or whatever is left in the entrance area going missing, the door is locked ON TIME, and it can't be open from the outside. If possible, please come 5-7 minutes before the class, so that we can all settle.

2. Please view the Booking and Cancellation policies. In general, I would appreciate if you let me know 4 or more hours before the class start if you can't make it any more. This will enable me to better plan my time. It may not always be possible to let me know within this time, but if it is, please do so. Arriving late (after the door has been closed) will unfortunately result in a missed class. If you let me know that you may be a few minutes (2-3) late in advance, I will try to wait for you.

3. Please don't bring any valuables with you to the studio - I am not able to take responsibility for it.

4. Lastly, please be respectful and kind towards yourself and other yogis. Come with the intention to make the most of the time on your mat.
